The works of our most significant authors are presented each year on the reading marathon that now celebrates its 10^th anniversary. The major organizer of this reading marathon for the 5^th time is the Kájoni János County Library or Harghita with the help of Harghita County Council. Today, on the 20^th of February, 2018, we cite the works of Petőfi Sándor who was born 195 years ago. In nearly two hundred villages of six different countries, beyond and within the borders, approximately forty thousand readers quote the works of our great poet on the anniversary of the writing of The Apostle, and at the same time, the 170^th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Based on the previous summaries, the number of readers exceeds 38.400. People form a total of 198 settlements and six countries joined this year. The huge number of this year’s applicants and the interest that is constantly growing prove that reading and literature convey universal values. Cross-border reading brings our communities together; it addresses children, youth and elderly as well. The opening ceremony of the 10^th National Reading Marathon started at 10 o’clock in the morning in the lecture hall of the Kájoni János County Library of Harghita, where an exhibition will take place which recalls the oeuvre of Petőfi Sándor.
